I am a genome informatician and have helped assemble and annotate several nematode genomes as part of my PhD work in the Blaxter Lab at the University of Edinburgh. At the Aboobaker Lab, I will be creating genomic and transcriptomic resources for planarian flatworms, which are excellent models for studying regeneration and ageing. I will also be undertaking comparative evolutionary genomics projects to see what differentiates flatworm species that age/don't age, regenerate/don't regenerate, and undergo sexual/asexual reproduction.
