My name is Yuliana and I am currently a first year PhD student in the Aboobaker lab. During my undergraduate degree I developed a strong interest in Genetics and Molecular Biology. I decided to make a career choice out of it and was fortunate enough to meet Aziz to help me through the bumpy road of my transition. I did my Masters by Research degree in the Aboobaker lab during which time I was working on the establishment of a model combining three different tools (RNAi, irradiation and bioinformatics) to aid the identification of stem cell-specific genes. My current interest lies in the field of epigenetics and how epigenetic mechanisms affect planarian regeneration. My recent focus has been a potential member of the MYST family of histone acetyltransferases in planarians. However, since this is not enough for a newly hatched biologist, I am also planning to look at cell ageing. Publications Yuliana Mihaylova and A Aziz Aboobaker (2013).
